most of my patients with ARTHRITIS are on this medicine.the benefit is that it has to be taken only once a week.it is generally very well tolerated by many,however some patients can't due to side effects.
Below is vital information that you need to know while you are taking this medicine.
WHY I AM BEING PRESCRIBED METHOTREXATE ?
it can slow the activity of arthritis,including Rheumatiod and other types.
It may reduce the inflammation in your joints and decrease stiffness and swelling .

HOW DO I TAKE IT ?
you should take it by mouth one hour before breakfast .take it with glass of water.swallow the tablet whole,don't chew or crush.
It's once a weekly medicine.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO WORK ?
it doesn't not work immediately.it will take 4-12 weeks to show maximum effect.

DO I NEED ANY TESTS WHILE TAKING THIS?
yes,regular follow up with doctor is necessary.with below blood tests.

2-RENAL FUNCTION TEST
3-LIVER FUNCTION TEST

folic acid can reduce mouth ulcers.
It is a vitamin .
You have to take it one day apart from the day you take Methotrexate.
